James Colson Baker was depressed and was unemployed when Sonia Alane, his mother, left the Baker family at barely 9 years old. Baker moved to Denver with his father and stayed for a time. Baker's inability to pay for school was the cause to be bullied by children around him. When he was in sixth grade, he began listening to rap. Colson Kelly was born as Machine Gun Kelly on April 22nd, 1989 in Texas. The rapper is most well-known for his hip-hop infused rock and modern alternative. Baker produced four mixtapes before signing with Bad Boy Records between 2007-2010. After delivering lyrics faster than a bullet train and a soaring voice, the Cleveland artist saw an explosive increase in fame and recognition in the year 2011. He went from releasing self-released cassettes, to the signing of labels. His career took off every album charting among the top 10.
